A dialogue on abortion

I`ve read a great many articles on abortion, and being a pro-life person, I believe the whole idea is absurd. However, that`s my own opinion. I noticed the articles I read, all have one thing in common: they all say we cannot know whether the fetus is alive or not, and some even say we cannot know. I think that perhaps they didn`t study biology or didn`t pay attention, because there are many ways to determine whether a fetus is alive or not before birth.

To demonstrate, I will use the four criterion of life. These four are the main criterion most people will run into, some biology books have more, but these are the basic ones. Many scientists mostly agree on these four.

1) All life forms have DNA.

Quoting from an article I read: "Although not a routine procedure, DNA testing of an unborn child can be done under a variety of circumstances to test for gene abnormalities and to help establish paternity."

Aha! There it is! DNA testing of an unborn child to see if the child will born with mental and physical handicaps, as well as to determine parentage. This means that the fetus MUST have DNA in order to qualify for DNA testing. You can`t test DNA if it isn`t there. So, the child fulfills this criterion.

2) All life forms have a way to extract energy from their surroundings and convert it into an energy that sustains them.

Have you ever seen an instance where the mother died and the child lived without being born? I sure haven`t. If the mother dies, the child dies. Why? Because his source of energy is cut off from him, so he cannot grow and mature the way he should. It`s like oxygen; if you lose your lungs, will you be able to breath? Obviously not, right? The same is with a child, if you cut him off from his source of energy, he won`t grow and mature, he`ll die. A plant won`t grow without water, because it`s one of its main sources of energy. As such, the child fulfills this criterion, because it absorbs energy from his mother`s womb and uses it to help him grow until he`s ready to go through the birth process.

3) All life forms sense changes in their surroundings and adapt.

Babies do sense changes in their surroundings. If you don`t think they do, look at the process of abortion. I really think they would sense a change in their environment, the change being that someone is trying to kill him. If you`ve ever seen the movie "The Silent Scream", you`ll know what I`m talking about. The Silent Scream shows the process of abortion and how the baby reacts, as
