Everybody is trying to save and minimize expenses in these tough economic times that even family entertainment must be changed in order to fit the situation and save instead of spend. Family entertainment comes in many ways depending on what kind of entertainment the family wants and needs. There are fun activities that don't need any money. If you are looking for family entertainment activities that give your family much fun without paying anything, here are some of them:

Gardening

If you have a garden, teach your children to touch the dirt and enjoy life with nature. This is not only entertaining the family but helping the environment in its worsening crisis. There are always works to be done in the garden such as planting new plants, weeding and cleaning the garden. Your children will enjoy gardening if you let them have their own plants to take care of. Your job is to guide them and teach them the basics of gardening so that they will know what to do next time.

Cooking

Cooking is good for children. This is a skill that is very useful. To make the activity fun and not work for them, gather them and ask them what they want to eat. If they have decided what to eat, then it's time to start cooking. You can tell each child to do something to help. While cooking, you can tell stories related to cooking. You can also tell them about the right kind of foods to eat in order to be healthy. Telling them about the importance of knowing how to cook is also a helpful idea for the kids.

Arts and craft making

Most children enjoy making arts and crafts. I remember when my son is a little boy and I often helped him with his drawings. He loved drawing cartoon characters and I made sure there were new pictures books for him to look and imitate. There are many crafts and arts appropriate for children. You can teach them to make some decorations out of thrash at home. If they find out that they have produced something beautiful and useful from thrash, that will help them become motivated and inspired to make some more.

Reading and story telling

Children even older ones love to be told stories. If the children can read then let them read aloud then all of you can discuss the story afterwards. This is a very entertaining activity and it helps also to make you closer to each other. This activity will let you have a quality time with the kids and at the same time this will make the children get closer together. Sharing experiences also could be included. The children can tell their experiences in school.

Outdoor meals

You can bring your regular meals outside the garden and enjoy the fresh air. This is like picnicking and all of you will surely enjoy this. Instead of planning to go somewhere else to eat or have a picnic, why not have a picnic in your backyard, it would be inexpensive but it will be much fun. After the meal you can play games and have more fun together.

Watching movies at home

You can always enjoy a good movie with the children at home. To let the children have fun, choose a movie that everybody would enjoy. You can prepare refreshments so that while watching you could also enjoy the snacks just like what people usually do inside the movie house.

Inexpensive family entertainment is possible. Just use your thinking power and bring out all the good ideas that will make your family happy even without spending too much.
