Taking the stand with the Catholic Church against homosexuality is a very unpopular stand in today's society, particularly in the United States. But what is written in the Word of God, the Holy Bible, can not be disputed, no matter how unpopular the teachings are. Any man or woman who believes that those words are not applicable today, or have been misunderstood, is totally out of touch with Catholicism and Christianity.
There are those people who argue that homosexuality is a natural disposition; it is not. During puberty, when the young child ls learning about emotions, feelings, and relationships, they may develop an affection for someone of their own sex; however, this trait can be directed to the natural order of relationships, namely, male to female. Parents, teachers, therapists, guidance counselors should be aware of the changes that the young teen is going through, and inform and educate, and spiritually guide them in accordance with God's law.
If the popular concept of "letting them be who they want to be" is followed, so will disaster, pain, and suffering. There are many human rights organizations that are promoting gay and lesbian activities to children, even in grade school. One organization, Mass Resistance, [www.MassResistance.com] publishes articles about how the homosexual agenda is being promoted in Massachusetts, and that is only state where these groups are infiltrating schools and influencing young children. If the parent refuses to allow their child to participate in the activities, or lessons, they can be charged with hate crimes by law. This is the outcome of perversion in the greatest sense, for when these activists bring their abominations to children, I seriously doubt God will be forgiving or understanding.
Nowhere in the Bible does it say that homosexuality is acceptable. It is not. The person who has sexual feelings for their own sex has a great burden, for if they truly believe in Christ they know that this is unacceptable. Celibacy is the only way to remain within the Church, and keeping the commandments. Sacrifice is refraining from relations, and the only way to salvation. We must be compassionate, understanding, and help them to live life without accepting or encouraging sin. To accept the new morality is to reject what the Bible and the Catholic Church have taught for over two thousand years.
We are all children of God, and when we see our brothers or sisters heading for danger, we must help guide them to safety. Speak out, and speak with love, for only when we show understanding will others listen. Each one of us knows a friend, or an acquaintance, who is gay. Our hearts go out to them. How can we help? By sharing, talking, and listening, and giving them encouragement. We probably won't be able to change their sexual nature, but perhaps we can appeal to their spiritual emotions, and encourage the virtues of faith, hope, and chastity.
