It boggles my mind how many and how often people connect Wicca with Satanism. The two couldn't be more different from each other.
Wicca is an earth-based religion with the belief that nature is sacred and divine. Wiccans also believe in a God and a Goddess. Oh, and one more thing...Wiccans do NOT believe in the devil. Wicca preaches that you can practice and do whatever you want as long as it doesn't harm anyone else. If you are to harm anyone or anything else, it will come back to you three times worse than you dished it out. This is why witches who practice 'black' or 'dark' magick are not true Wiccans because they tend to cast spells that harm people.
Satanism, however, is a belief system, not a religion. They believe that you can do whatever you want and there are no restrictions. So basically you can harm someone and it's no big deal. They don't necessarily believe in the devil, though. You will find Atheists that also consider themselves Satanist as they, too, don't believe in a God.
Like I said earlier, the two could not be more different from each other.
Satanists and Wiccans will all tell you this, but it tends to be the Christians who believe the two are interconnected. The fear they have of the unknown is based on the words in a book that's been translated probably over a hundred times and has had scriptures left out. Their fear in a red man with a pitchfork has stopped them from speaking with a group of people (Wiccans) who could not be a more peaceful group.
It's also frustrating to me that they will not even bother to open up their minds and do some research. They are in a religion that preaches to love everyone and that all people are equal, yet a group who is different than them is automatically associated with evil because all they know is that a bunch of men two thousand years ago decided that they were going to scare the public into conforming by making up a man named Satan and deciding what was evil and what was not.
So if you're reading this, remember one thing. The next time that you come across a Wiccan please do not refer to him/her as a Satanist.
Remember what makes them different: Wiccans believe in a God/Goddess and Satanists do not. Wiccans believe that if you harm someone then it's going to come back to you three times worse and Satanists believe you can do whatever it is that you want. And Lastly, Wiccans do NOT believe in Satan whatsoever.
