Cell phones have changed the way we do everything. There are so many advantages to using a cell phone that a landline has become fairly obsolete. There are many people who will hang on to their landline for the rest of their lives. The laadline may never get used, except on rare occasions but they hold onto them anyway. There are a feaw advantages of keeping a landline running in your home. Before you make a decision, here are some things that you should consider before giving up your landline phone:

No Signal

There are often times that it is very difficult to get a signal inside your home. Although this isn't as bad as it once was, there are still issues with it. It is especially true when you live in a wooded or remote area. Removing the landline from your home could be an extremely poor decision if an emergency arises and you can't get the help that you need.

911

Calling emergency services from a cell phone can present unique problems. You may not get to the proper authorities from the cell phone as it decides which area you need help at. Dialing 911 from a landline automatically goes to your local emergency operators ensuring that you get the help you need in a timely fashion.

Access

There are certain business' that require that you have a cell phone in order to call them. This even happens when you want to set up your new cell phone. Many times you will be required to call from a landline in order to set it up. Even if you want a pizza delivered, many of these types of businesses no longer allow deliveries to be made to customers who call on cell phones.

Phone Modems

You cannot get rid of your landline if you use a phone modem to connect to the internet. You need a phone line to do that. Although phone modems aren't used as often as they once were, it does still exist. It is important to note that if you decide to change your phone modem to cable or other such service, you will probably end up spending more money per month than you do right now. If you are getting rid of the landline to save money and you have a phone modem, it will probably be cheaper to keep the landline than to change everything over.

Back Up

Cell phones often get lost along the way. Other things happen as well. Many people have even run over their phones or accidentally dropped them in the toilet. There are so many ways in which something can go wrong with a cell phone. Having a landline to back you up just in case something happens is a wise decision.

The biggest advantage of getting rid of your landline is you have one less bill to pay. This is a good thing, especially when we go through hard economic times. There are many advantages of keeping the line as well. All of your options should be looked at closely before deciding to get rid of the landline phone. Sometimes it is better to be safe now rather than sorry later.
