Old Town in Wichita is known for its fabulous blend of both early and late twentieth century cuisine. Wichita is the largest city in the state of Kansas and is proud of its culinary spread. There are just so many dine-ins, cafes and restaurants, especially in Old Town alone, be it Chinese, Thai, Barbecues, Mexican, Pizzas or pure Vegetarian delights.
Listed below is a guide for the top rated restaurants in Old Town. ZIP: 67202. Please note that the list below is exclusive to Old Town and does not list entries from any other area of Wichita.
#1. Eaton Steakhouse: 523 E. Douglas Ave Wichita, KS 67202
The crab cakes/egg Benedict combo for breakfast and the chicken-spinach salads for lunch are a definite A. The ambience and decor of the restaurant is very appealing and has a welcoming note to it, every time you walk in. Do you crave to eat fried green tomatoes for brunch? Yes, Eaton Steakhouse has it. Dine in with music played in the background by a live band. Some of the best steaks there which are reasonably priced are bacon wrapped fillet and Sirloin with scallops. Eaton Steakhouse has the best range of steaks in Old Town.
#2. Old Mill Tasty Shop: 604 E Douglas Ave Wichita, KS 67202
Old Mill Tasty Shop has witnessed so many changes to Wichita over the years but has still not changed its unique style of cooking. The most noted item of wonder at this place is the old-fashioned 1932 soda fountain which they still use to serve soda. Definitely traditional, and yes, try their soups. A real delicacy!
#3. Egg Cetera: 242 N Mosley St Wichita, KS 67202
You most definitely have to try the varieties of omelets served here. This is a great place to hang out with friends especially for brunch. The food is good and service is pleasing.
#4. Cafe Bel Ami: 229 E William St Wichita, KS 67202
This is one of the most romantic spots in Wichita for a quiet dinner, tucked away in an old building. The ambience is perfect for your first date and the cuisine splendid. General opinion is that you try the Filet Mignon which is one of the many recommendations of the Chef. Parking might be an issue, but that slight damper action to mood can be overcome with the overall result of the dinner at Caf Bel Ami.
#5. River City Brewery: 150 N Mosley St Wichita, KS 67202
This is one of the favourite spots for those who love beer. Pizzas are delicious and the ambience is good; not too noisy. The best time to be there would be a late Wednesday evening because of the discounted rates. Menu
