Linking Your Way to Success on Helium
We work hard crafting our articles on Helium. Yet many of them sit, vastly unattended to, because there is so much competition. Even if we end up being ranked #1, that's only in the Helium community. We still have to compete with anyone who has ever addressed the topic we wrote to, in the enormous black hole of internet content providers.
They say linking helps with this. In fact, Helium strongly recommends it. That's one of the reasons some people start blogging. Many of us have quite a bit invested in Helium. Some writers have more than a thousand articles, and everyone wants to receive more page views after investing so much time and effort on the site, especially since our articles are here for the duration of time. We're a community, so it's easy to help each other out with that.
The first thing we need to do is to think and act like team players. It has been proven that people rarely succeed at anything alone. There are usually several people and events taking place that help a person achieve their goals, among them, support from their families, friends, and peer group. With this philosophy in mind, it seems obvious that we need to work together when promoting our writing through internet linking.
A few people like Leigh Goessl and Erik Van Tongerloo already do this. They have set up blogs directing you to some of their favorite writers on Helium, as well as other blogs that also promote Helium members. As you can see, quite a few links are already in the works this way.
While starting a blog is one way to link to Helium, there are other ways as well. You can do an internet search for a topic you've written to, and then contact the owner of the websites you find. By drafting a simple form letter, you can ask for a link based on pertinent information for their site. It is important to read the about me section, as well as the site history. You may also want to know how often the site is updated. It is a good idea to enter into friendly communications, as opposed to business negotiations with the owner. You don't want the owner to feel spammed, and if your demeanor relates more to a common interest, as opposed to asking for a favor, you'll more than likely succeed.
You could also check out different link sites set up to give as many links as possible to a particular subject. This isn't always the best alternative, especially since some of these sites have earned a rather careless reputation. It seems some of them don't review the links they present, creating problems for people who use them. If they are known for poor references or lots of broken links, they probably aren't the best place to put links to your articles.
It doesn't matter if you use blogging, sites of common interest, link pool web pages, or a combination of these methods to generate more page views by linking your articles on the internet. The important thing is that you invest in the time it takes to do so. As your page views increase, your reputation as a reputable freelance writer will expand, and when that happens, an increase in your earnings is certain to follow.
