Video game reviews: Metal Gear Acid (PSP)

Metal Gear Solid has been one of the best games that came out for the Playstation since its release back in 1997. Now that Sony has followed Nintendo's idea and release a handheld console , there would be no doubt that a Metal Gear Solid came out and this is it.

It's called Metal Gear Acid and was one of the first games to be release along with the Playstation Portable. This game had high expectations when it was release and it does well.

The Story: A jumbo jet has been hijack by two dolls ( that's right, Dolls) and the terroists want a weapon and the hero Solid Snake gets sent in to save the day.

Game-play: This is not like any other Metal gear solid games that have appeared earlier in the series, this is a turn-based tatics style game, you can NOT just move around like in other games, you have to select cards and move and choose an other card that for your last move. The same applies to the enemies they have to wait until you are finish with your moves before they can move or attack. The ACID in the title stands for 'Active Command Intelligence Dual'. The cards have the designs of other items from the original Metal Gear games. For example:weaponry, characters even the Metal Gears machines.

Mutliplayer: Mutliplayers or 'Link Battle' as it is called in the game is a brand new feature, where two owners of the game can link wireless, allowing players to face each other in 'Sneak Off'. The objection of the game is to collect as diskettes before the rival player, diskettes can be stolen of other players, so there is a emphasis of avoiding detection.

Even though this is a brand new title in the series, it doesn't fit in to the serie but it does use objects from the early games, weapons and charcter which are printed on to the playing cards you use to play the game.

Three sets of cards use from the games , Metal gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and a fourth pack is also available on the classic Metal Gear and other Konjami games.

Back to the game, this game is good but gets annoyed with the new card system which is difficult to get to grips with and I don't see the need fora nd the old way of using the control stick to the move the characters is much better. The other problem with card system is that your turn ends at the wrong times and by the time your move comes again, you will have died.

The story is also a downer because it feels like the writers just came up with this in seconds and not bother working on it.

The game is good for Metal Gear fans, but if not: STAY AWAY
