How to outsmart weight gain

Understand this very important fact. Weight gain is not in your interest. In fact an overweight person is one that has one foot in the grave already. If we know this (and who doesn't?) then we need to take drastic steps to outsmart weight gain.

The first step is to understand the process of weight gain. How do people put on weight? There would be no point in going into a lot of medical jargon here. In simple terms, weight gain is too much food plus lack of exercise that's all.

Since we already know this, let us take the necessary steps to outsmart weight gain.

Watch Your Diet:

This is a pretty obvious step to take. If you load yourself with a lot of calories, some will be stored as fat. That is how people put on weight. On the other hand, watch what you eat and your weight will be under control.

Exercise:

You really cannot keep eating without exercising. Exercise helps you in two ways. First, during the actual process, you burn calories. Second, even after exercising, your body continues to burn calories. Therefore if you exercise, you already have the solution to the weight gain problem.

Fast:

This may sound like a rather drastic step but it is very effective. If you work from Monday to Friday, you may use your job as an excuse not to fast. But the good news is that fasting once a week has great results. So fast on Saturday religiously and keep your weight down.

Two Day Therapy:

This is a great concept and very effective too especially for those who cannot, or will not fast. Choose two days in a week and on those two days, live on water and fruits only. Apart from keeping your weight down, this therapy also cleanses your system and gives you great skin.

Avoid Soft Drinks:

This is where most people get their excess weight from. Soft drinks are simply bad news. They contain nothing but sugar and chemicals. More to the point, they are liquid so they get digested easily. Cut down on fizzy drinks or avoid them entirely and you will keep your weight down.

Drink Water:

This is the ultimate drink. There is no risk of weight gain with water. There is no side effects either. Water is all good. More to the point, if you fill your stomach with water, there will be no space for fattening snacks and dangerous soft drinks.

Don't Eat Out:

Most people who put on weight do so at fancy restaurants or snack bars. Eating out means eating too much. You want to get your money's worth so you don't want to leave any food on the plate. Shame! Besides, foods in most restaurants contain very high levels of both fat and salt. Your best bet is to eat in your own house.

Don't Overfeed:

You are not a glutton so don't eat like one. Stop eating when you feel full and don't wait until your stomach becomes distended like a football.

Finally, understand that food is vital but don't splurge on it. Eat for your health and not for your cravings. Watch what you eat and exercise. This is the simple trick to outsmart weight gain.
