Batteries: Toss out or recycle

Recycling batteries is not only better for our environment, but it is becoming the perfect recession proof business now, for recycling old batteries. Why fill our landfills with old car, ATV, tractor and semi truck batteries instead of reviving them with a simple procedure and reselling the battery. As a nation of consumers, we now need to take a closer look at what we are disposing of and implement a recycling plan. Batteries have normally more than one life left in them if you know how to recharge them.

One recession proof business for recycling batteries is, Battery Doctor that is popular in Canada and is gaining ground in the United States. Recycling gives the old batteries new life and they are resold with a warranty, which in turn keeps them out of the landfills for at least another year and in some instances longer than that, as the recycled battery may be able to be recharged again and again. Batteries from cars, trucks, SUV's, ATV's, farm tractors and even semi trucks, can be kept out of our landfills by recycling and as a business, you are helping the environment and supplying your community with a valuable service..

Recycling batteries is not only economical but better for the environment. It is not expensive to recycle a battery and the batteries can offer a less expensive alternative to buying a brand new battery and they can still offer a warranty with each battery that has been recharged. Batteries have changed over the years but the simple concept of what makes them a battery remains the same. Did you know that if you buy a six volt lantern battery, you are actually buying the equivalent of 32 AA batteries? It is true. We are a nation of consumers with little regard for what to do with our waste products and batteries in our landfills. They are dangerous to our ground water and land, with the chemicals and acid that they contain.

Recycling batteries goes hand in hand with the recycling of tires and is an excellent way to reuse a product, while keeping it out of our landfills. Recycling a battery is simply recharging the battery and reselling it, to continue its life as a charged battery. Normally a battery can be charged more than once. Tires on the other hand are a little more complicated and more expensive to recycle, but the same need is there to keep the product out of our landfills for as long as we possibly can.
