Poetry: On abortion

Faster

Two souls moved closer.
Combined as one.
We let everything go,
dropped like our dirty cloths.
Conjoined at our hips.
Life moved- faster,
rushing off to a disaster.
Nothing else mattered
except our quiet patter.

Things took a turn for the worse,
our relationship was in a hearse.
I was a "round hole" and he was a "square peg".
I cried "it didn't matter-
I don't care if you never call!
But I should say congrats "hun".
You've got a golden ticket:
soon to be a father!"
He asked if I was certain.
I said I was late.
He took me to a clinic.
They said it'd sting a little...
it hurt a lot.

He said he really loved me
that's why we lasted so long.
He said that he would love me
until our days were all gone.
Whispered very softly, as he let my hand go,
running it through my hair without a care.

Now, a few weeks later,
I'm laying in my bed
writing this little poem.
My hands are getting weaker;
my face is pale as snow.
The doctor's racing toward me-
to help with my disaster.
That kid who said he loved me...
got what he was after
and more.
