Poetry: Pretending

by Carol Gioia

Created on: June 01, 2009   Last Updated: July 31, 2010

Out on a limb,
filled with regret,
balancing my act,
with no safety net.

Hovering on the edge
of uncertainty,
barely containing
the panic inside me.

Facing the world
with a smile unending,
hoping no one can see
that I'm only pretending.
