The sniper is the ideal class for anyone who wants to sit back and pick people off from a distance. Perfect for picking off slower moving classes such as the heavy and soldier, but with enough practice in pinpoint perfection, even speedy classes such as the scout should pose little threat to you. Little in the virtual world of Team Fortress 2 can compare to the first time you pull off 3 head shots in the space of 5 seconds, and the fact that head shots yield double the points should see you quickly rising the scoreboard.
Firstly the snipers weapons, obviously the main gun you are going to be using is the sniper rifle, this is a fantastic piece of kit, able to kill any of the weaker classes with a single shot to the head, and with the ability to charge your shot up the longer you stay scoped, anything in your line of sight is going down with one shot. Your backup for when the enemy gets close comes in the form of a smg, this doesn't really do much damage, but has a reasonable rate of fire and is highly accurate, making it ideal for finishing off someone you sniped but didn't kill. The snipers melee weapon comes in the form of the kukri, an over sized machete which is lethal at close range, however the fact that you are a sniper, coupled with your low hp means this is a last resort weapon (although it is ideal for killing spies, just remember your kinfe is bigger than his).
As of the May 21st 2009 update, three more weapons have been added to the arsenal, the primary weapon among these is the huntsman, which swaps some of your effectiveness at long range for a decent middle range weapons, the bow is far better than the sniper when you expect to be fighting in close quarters, with a far faster charge rate and enabling you to move around while shooting. However at long range the arrows are slow moving and easy to dodge, but still ideal fro ambushes, as there is no sniper dot to give away where you are aiming. Both of the other weapons compete with the smg for the secondary slot, they are the razorback (which prevents a single back stab from killing you, but decreases your movement speed to that of a heavy), and jarate (a jar of... urine which can be used to put out people on fire, and makes enemies take more damage when hit).
Onto your victims, a good sniper already knows how to kill everyone he meets, but for the rest of us, I've compiled a summary of the best ways to kill people (I'm not crazy, honest):
Scout- These speedy punks are lethal if they get
