Dreams of fire
and awful pain,
and feelings of fright
in the awful night.
A fitful sleep,
shallow and deep,
trying to yell,
with no voice, from my hell.
A lesson to learn
for my troubled head:
Don't mix apples and coffee
'fore going to bed.

I stay awake so long so I can breathe
Lying in this dream, tossed upon the ocean
Crashing down. memories vanish

I close my eyes and feel consciousness slipping away
The colors and sounds fade
And I am left deaf and blind
