#4 - Keep your eyes open
Don't walk around watching your feet all the time - you'll miss the world and what's going on. You might see that help wanted poster that blows away in the wind right before your eyes. You might save a very grateful someone from being hit by a car. You might find a perfectly good computer being thrown out with the garbage. These things happen, but if you aren't watching you will miss them. Any one of these events could turn your life around on a dime. Hey, even a dime can turn your life around if you use it the right way.
#5 - Take lessons from the people around you and others with no money
You're not the first or the last person who is flat broke. You can cope with it a lot easier if you learn from the people around you. Maybe that bag lady knows where the all you can eat $1 spaghetti lunch is served. Maybe the staff at the shelter can tip you off on where the best and safest beds in the shelter are. Or someone else could tip you off to the free internet access and printing at the local library. These don't sound like huge things, but each one will help you cope with your situation a little better. With a good night's sleep and hot food in your belly, you can take on the world! And watch college students - they are famous for stretching money as much as anyone can. Mind you it usually so they will have more money for beer and partying, but you can learn from anyone!
These 5 tips on how to cope with being flat broke aren't rocket science. They are things that anyone can do in almost any situation. If you are flat broke, you could end up in any situation so you need to keep your wits about you and a smile on your face. Remember, no matter how bad it seems to be it can always get worse... and better!
