Movie analysis: The Truman Show and our perception of reality

to torment in order to prove a point to the devil, the ego-driven, all-seeing parent of "The Truman Show" subjects Truman to death-defying ocean waves to keep Truman from finding the truth about himself. However, the domed studio set is finite. Truman could only die or reach the wall. He reached the wall and found the door. The premise is similar to "The Matrix". The one determined to accept the truth will get unplugged from the machines' self-serving system. One must be willing to wake up from the shared hallucination. It's a little similar to The Wizard of Oz. What would have happened to Dorothy if she didn't jump out of the impostor's hot air balloon? She'd be lost in Oz forever, because the wizard couldn't find the way for her. All she had to do was remember her true home and wake up. Poor Job reached the wrong conclusion. He worshiped the one tormenting him and called him merciful and generous. None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free.... Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.

But Neo and Truman join Dorothy's [5] ranks to awareness of their freedom.
