The face of the Republican Party has three sides, the good, the bad and the ugly. Question is, who will become the actual face of the Republican Party? First you have to decipher who is who before coming up with that Republican ring master. Steele may be past tense, however the future holds McDonnell, Limbaugh, Beck, O'Reilly, Gingrich, Cantor, Krohn (perhaps later in Krohn's life) and Huckabee.
The Nominees Are / Were:
Michael Steele - - Michael Steele, Republican National Committee Chairman, has always been a "unique" character. In early 2009 Michael Steele compared his strategy to a chessboard. That wasn't too bad until the word God confused him somewhat. Most that followed this story did not understand the logic of Steele's flip-flop interview.
"If I do something, there's a reason for it. Even if it may look like a mistake, a gap, there's a rational, there's a logic behind it." Steele continued, "It helps me understand my position on a chessboard. It helps me understand where the enemy camp is, and those who are inside of the tent are. It's all strategic, it's all strategic."
Steele caught the attention of America, but only after being asked if he would ever run for the White House.
"If that is where God wants me to be at that time." -Michael Steele
Checkmate or stalemate Steele? Now many wonder if Steele has faith in God or is it a strategic plan to introduce to gather the support of religion. Surrounding this time in history, Steele insulted Limbaugh lightly, Steele apologized. It was then that the media took full control in questioning "was Steele apologizing as a strategic move or did he really mean it?" The complete transcript of this conversation can be found through CNN.com.
Will Michael Steele remain the actual face of the Republican Party? Perhaps Obama's new pick can help with that one. Steele spoke of negative words when describing Sonya Sotomayor, Obama's possible Supreme Court pick then changed his views after Obama's pick had been confirmed.
"Stop the slammin' and rammin'" Steele states of the GOP recently over the torn sides of the Sonya Sotomayor choice. Again, it appears that Steele's strategic move may have bit his future chances, or maybe that was God's will after all.
Most can say that Michael Steele has already hurt the Republican Party just by word and view alone. Some ask themselves if Steele can stick to one decision, his own. This would be the prime reason why Michael Steele is not the best person for the Republican Party, therefore, he may not remain as the Republican Party ring master in the future.
Bob McDonnell - - Bob McDonnell, Republican candidate for Virginia Governor, is far from being the top leader of the Republican Party. However, Bob McDonnell has much in support from Virginian Republicans including those outside of Virginia such as Michael Steele. In the future Bob may be the face of the Republican Party, but not so fast, perhaps this will take some time. Bob McDonnell is growing in popularity as you will notice his name in the Virginia lights this upcoming September.
Rush Limbaugh - - Rush Limbaugh, conservative radio-talk show host, that has been noted with many opinions. Limbaugh's views on Obama and his wish for Obama's failure has been considered a personal attack by some and a metaphor by others.
Hush, here comes Rush! Criticism is Rush's middle name.
Limbaugh criticized Colin Powell for leaving the Republican Party as some believe the "move" was due to adding more support towards Senator Barack Obama becoming the 44th U.S. President. As most know, President Obama couldn't be happier now. Rush on the other hand is not. Rush would rather a person be true to their beliefs and build, not run away when things get heated. Most can relate to this logic.
Rush Limbaugh also had a run in with his own team player, Michael Steele. Words passed back and forth until someone said they were sorry. At that moment Rush jumped on the chance of implying Steele had a weakness and in Rush's Republican world no one should be weak enough to apologize. Since this fiasco Rush supporters took a step back since Limbaugh seemed hard on Steele.
Rush Limbaugh responded to reports of him being the "titular head of the Republican Party." This title, as Rush describes, was given by the Democrats and possibly the Obama administration within the White House. You know Rush, the radio critic with something to say.
"I have not been named the titular or any of the head of the Republican Party by anyone in the Republican Party. And I so hereby, ladies and gentlemen, announce that I am resigning." -Rush Limbaugh
Rush is strong in voice, although, with his points becoming so sharp that it could cut through the spirit of another. Can you see Rush as the face of the Republican Party? Is Limbaugh the GOP man to take his place on Mount Rushmore?
Glenn Beck - - Glenn Beck, political commentator and radio-television talk host, is a spunky hearted Republican with an emotional spirit. Each night Glenn could be found on the Glenn Beck Program, a controversial set up with visuals, debate, props including special guests. This show is definitely for both Democrat and Republicans, however also perfect for those opposing the Obama administration.
Why do I like Glenn's face, literally? Glenn's cute like a puppy or the kid next door with an active mind that always keeps life interesting by building new patriotic lawn ornaments, but that's not the only reason.
Raised on the virtues set by Benjamin Franklin, I know them by heart. Glenn Beck gave America a dose of reality when it comes to what our Founding Fathers geared towards. Glenn reintroduced the virtues by his list of values. All by which have combined virtues and values, something that the youth of America can learn from when it comes to personal freedoms, self respect and other important factors.
Even though Glenn has that puppy dog face, is it enough to becomes the actual face of the Republican Party?
Bill O'Reilly - - Bill O'Reilly, syndicated columnist and political commentator, faces the nation with the notion that the Republican Party has many issues to sort out and consider with the help of outside input from viewer e-mails. Sure Bill will disagree with Republicans when he sees fit yet he seems to keep himself at bay through the balance of programming resulting in less of a battlefield.
Bill O'Reilly is a fun character with rough edges. Is this enough to be the actual face of the Republican Party? Remember that there's more involved within the Republican Party than calling opponents a bunch of pinheads.
Newt Gingrich - - Newt Gingrich, former speaker of the House of Representatives, is a spitfire, a Republican diamond in the rough. Newt has established a long political career, more so than all other listed. But what does Newt have that others do not? His foot in the door.
When Nancy Pelosi drew attention towards Gitmo interrogation tactics with the suggestion of holding the CIA accountable, she forget something, her involvement, or non-involvement. Newt was on this like white on rice. Newt called for Pelosi's resignation along with Rush Limbaugh, however Newt is closer to Congress than Rush is. Therefore, Newt can actually get things done by action rather than simple talk. But will this be enough for Newt to become the actual face of the Republican Party? No because Newt also has ghosts in his closet.
The year was 1977 as a woman named Gail Sheehy claimed she had sexual activity with a married man, Newt Gingrich. This story leaked through the years, but what does it imply? Gingrich may have like working for Bill Clinton's interns. However, it was an isolated moment over 30 years ago. Newt has had controversy on larger subjects since but nothing quite mind blowing.
Thus far Newt has joined Eric Cantor in his effort to remake the GOP in the future. Newt is a benefit yet the question stands, is Newt going to be the ring leader of the Republican Party? And on a lighter note, who is Cantor?
Eric Cantor - - Eric Cantor, Virginia's Republican representative, has grown in reputation in 2009 by noting that the lack of GOP pull has passed Obama's stimulus package, a package Cantor wouldn't dry his hands on. Eric Cantor is a premature choice for the title of top Republican pick. He has much to consider with more on his plate. Perhaps in the future Cantor will be the face of the Republican Party, however, hold your horses, let him enjoy the Republican playground for a while.
Jonathan Krohn - - Jonathan Krohn, author of Define Conservatism, gained extra exposure during the Conservative Political Action Conference. Jonathan has been noted as a prodigy. What makes this guy better than most? He may not be old enough to drive since he was born in 1995, however, Jonathan knows what the weaknesses and strengths are inside of the GOP. Jonathan mentions flaws within Republicans such as Jeb Bush. Smart kid! Some joke in serious laughter that Jonathan just may take Steele's spot in the Republican Party. The joke may be on them one day. Can you see Jonathan as the leader in the Republican Party in the future?
After viewing what Jonathan has to offer through inewscatcher.com, it is easy to see just what the Republican Party has to look forward to.
Saving the Best for Last!
Mike Huckabee - - Mike Huckabee, Republican political commentator and participant of Fox News network, sparked new followers during 2007 as Huckabee had interest in running for the 2008 presidential campaign. Huckabee, the paradoxical Republican, is a southern Baptist preacher, plays bass in a rock band and lover of fried foods, but what really gets Huckabee fired up these days? It's not the fact that he played back-up bass for American Idol's Kris Allen while doing a version of the Beatles song "Yesterday" in May of 2009. It's not the fact that he continues prayers where American prayer lacks.
Humble Mike Huckabee is fired up due to the direction that the Republican party is paving for themselves. Huckabee wants to make a difference in the Republican party, a "change" of his own without taking from the values of the Republican party tradition.
In this Republican world of uncertainty, it is not easy to pick the face of it's display. One of the Republicans listed above will be the actual face of the Republican Party. Did you pick a winner?
