Irresistible Dog Food Dip! Well, now I know that may sound gross, but that's what my family has always called this yummy dip. It's very simple to throw together and it feeds an army. It's a great game day munchy, or it could be used for graduation parties, showers, or even as a lunch. It's a really great dish to take to a party or potluck. If you have a lot of people, you can increase the portions for the number you need to feed. Make sure you make extra because it's such a big hit they'll be begging you for more. It's good leftover the next day as well.
Ingredients:
1 pound ground beef
1/2 block Velveeta cheese chunked
1 jar any salsa (I prefer hot)
1 jar jalapeno peppers
1 medium onion diced
1 small green pepper diced
1 or 2 garlic cloves diced
taco chips
crock pot
Fry the burger until cooked, and put into the crock pot. Fry the onions, peppers, and garlic, and add to the burger. Put the Velveeta cheese, jalapenos, and the jar of salsa into the burger and onion mixture, and stir well. Heat through in the crock pot until the cheese is all melted. Serve with the chips for dipping.
I like to use the scoop-type chips so you can fill them right up. If you don't have a crock pot, you could just make this dip on the stove, or even in the microwave. If you like, you can have a separate dish with some chopped up jalapenos, or even some chopped black olives, or diced onions to add on top. You could also use ground chicken or ground turkey instead of the ground beef, or even mix them together. Another option would be to use some french baguettes or crackers for the dippers. You could even put this dip on small rolls, and it would be a variation on the classic Sloppy Joe. You're only limited by your imagination.
I hope you try my recipe. I know all your family and friends will ask you to make this over and over again; just as mine do to me. ENJOY!
