Tips for Grilling in the City
Grilling is a favorite past time of many Americans. If you live in the city grilling can be a problem depending on where you live. Some cities have laws governing where you are allowed to use a gas or charcoal grill. It is always best before you fire up your grill to find out what your local city laws are concerning grilling in the city.
Many apartment buildings in large cities have flat roof tops where the tenants can go to enjoy some fresh outdoor air. Many even have a lawn area with grass planted. This may seem like a wonderful area to fire up your BBQ grill. Check your lease, or contact your landlord to be sure that rooftop grilling is allowed in your particular building. There may be a clause in your lease stating that no grilling is allowed on the rooftop. Many landlords are afraid of the risk of fire. You can also check to see if you are allowed to use a small table top grill on your balcony
Condominiums impose the same sort of rules. When you bought your condo you should have also got a copy of the building rules for common areas used by all of the tenants. Read your rules carefully to determine if you are allowed to grill on your rooftop. If you have a balcony, you may be allowed to gill on it. Again, you must check your rules for your building to make the determination if grilling is allowed anywhere in the building.
If you live in any high-rise building in any city, and you find that you are not allowed to grill anywhere in your building, don't fret. Most large cities offer public parks where grilling is allowed. It can be fun to pack up your BBQ and head to the park for an afternoon cookout.
Some public parks even have permanent charcoal grills set up throughout the park available for public use. This makes grilling simple. You don't have to lug your grill several blocks in order to enjoy foods cooked on a grill.
If you have to take your own grill to the park for a cookout, remember parking may be an issue in a large city. The best grill to buy in this case is a small table top grill. You can purchase a gas or charcoal table top grill, according to your own personal preference. They are compact and easier to transport than a full size BBQ grill. Your food will taste just as delicious using a table top grill as it does when you cook it on a full size grill.
Grilling in the city can be as fun as the cookouts your had when you were a child. Invite some friends to make it a summer cookout to remember.
