Alica and Louise found seats at the bar. At the end of that same bar sat a handsome and eligible man. Almost immediately he began to cast glances in what seemed to be Alica's direction.
Alica, though, after a few minutes, dropped her gaze. Louise, however, returned the man's look with a smile and a light toss of her head. The man came over and he and Louise were soon talking and flirting with each other.
Alicia sat quietly by and wondered what went wrong. She could have sworn the guy had been looking at her first.
He had, actually, been looking at Alica in the beginning. . However when Alica, thinking that staring back would be rude, had dropped her gaze, he had read that as her body language saying she wasn't interested in getting to know him.
"Like another?" the bartender asked Alica, nodding at her half-empty glass of white wine..
"What?" Alicia looked up, a small frown across her forehead. "Oh no, no thanks."
"Well, let me know when you do," he said, giving Alicia a smile and "accidentally" brushing the back of her hand. Alicia didn't even seem to notice his touch.
"Oh, sure," she said, sounding close to irritated. She was irritated. Both she and Louise were pretty, shapely, smart women. Yet, again and again, Louise seemed to automatically know when a guy was interested and knew when and how to reel him in, while Alicia never seemed to have the first clue.
That was because Alica simply had no idea on how to correctly read a man's body language. In fact, she never gave body language a second thought. It would have served her well had she considered this issue.
."So," said the bartender, " smiling anew at Alicia "No refill needed yet?"
"No," Alicia said glumly, not even looking up this time. "No thanks."
'Just my luck,' she thought bitterly. 'I can't catch a break. Louise gets the fellow every time , and what do I get? A bartender who keeps hitting me up to buy extra drinks.'
Actually, Alicia was only half-right. The bartender was "hitting her up," so to speak, but it wasn't because he wanted Alicia to splurge on more wine.
His body language was clearly stating that he liked Alicia's looks and was trying to get that message across in a non-threatening way. He was hoping to get Alicia to respond positively to him..
For starters, he had asked Alicia twice if she wanted a refill in a very short period of time. Anyone who pays that much attention to another person's needs is usually attempting to get the individual in question to notice him.
