You are new to Helium and just about shaking in your boots either from anticipation or nerves, or both. You wrote your first article but your hand is still not willing to press that post button. You just don't know if you're doing it right or even if you have what it takes to be an on-line author. It's been several years since your last grammar lesson, after all, and it's not like you paid the teacher much attention back then anyway. Can you string a coherent sentence together? Do you even know the difference between a noun and a verb anymore? And what the heck is a dangling participle? Yikes! You're just not ready for this.
Oh, relax! We've all been there, even those Helium writers with the five bright and shiny stars next to their names. They started with the one article same as you and slowly went up from there. You can do it too if you're willing to learn. So, listen up. This is how to get started as a new writer on Helium.
Before anything else knowing what Helium is and what it isn't is the best thing for a new writer to discover before putting pen to paper or fingertips to keyboard. Helium is a place for serious writers who want others to take their writing seriously. Helium is a place to hone your writing skills, to learn from others and perhaps, in time, to show others through your writing, your own personal knowledge, expertise and experiences. Helium is a place to find answers to your questions and where you can give your very own answers to other people's queries.
Helium is not a place for pithy, one-line remarks, bad manners nor ill-conceived rants. This is not a place for blogging nor the abbreviated non-language of texting. Every article on Helium should be concise, to the point, well written and entirely your work and no one else's. Plagiarism is simply not allowed and will have you permanently banned from the site if you attempt it. This is a professional site for professional minded individuals. Those who take pride in their work should use their real name or at least choose a pen name that sounds good on a by-line. CrazyDaisy53 isn't going to enamor any publishers.
Knowing the rules of the game makes all the difference when you're just starting out. Helium Writing Standards are clearly spelled out. Commit these few simple but highly important rules to memory and you'll be well on your way to becoming a most valued writer to Helium. Punctuation, spelling and
