The benefits of legalizing prostitution

by JT Roberts

From a woman's perspective, we have the majority of benefits to gain by legalizing prostitution. If I had a penny for every time a man said he'd sell sex, I'd be a rich woman! The following quote is a prime example of the liberties men have to honestly express their sexual thoughts and desires without the fear of being harshly judged.

A friend from Canada, Charles once said, "If I were a woman, I'd buy myself a web-cam and masturbate for men as a video escort. If legal, I'd be a prostitute." It's legal in every Canadian province. Each province individually governs the guidelines of regulation and licensing.

More than a little ironic, Charles broke up with his last girlfriend upon discovering a twelve-year-old skeleton in her closet. Samantha once frolicked as a discreet highly valued courtesan. Why? Society would have us believe it was because of low self esteem, abuse, drug habits or mental illness. None of these ornaments where part of her unique circumstance. She required money to save the life of her only daughter. A favorable example: Giving Americans reason to responsibly evaluate benefits of legalizing "the oldest profession known to man."

Charles has been caught in four extra-marital affairs throughout the history of his marriage. His public displays of affection have broken hearts tearing apart numerous homes. He has left the emotions of dependent children in turmoil. Public affairs weaken the fibrous threads of our communities. Private trysts with professional ladies are rarely discovered because there are fewer gray lines concerning emotional expectations. Prostitution is an institution of service not an institution of love. A courtesan "honest prostitute" ensures the family unit stays intact. Western civilization's sexual double standards don't belong in modern 21st century societies.

It's popular for individuals to reference Nevada's legal guidelines regarding the regulations of providing "paid sex." Melissa Farley opens your eyes to the truth through research. Nevada's laws are prime examples of demoralizing women, and a premium reason women should take an active role in the legalization process. Current laws violate basic human rights against women. These include trafficking, political corruption, slave like conditions and imprisonment.

Melissa Farley conducted a two-year investigation visiting eight legal brothels, interviewing 45 women and several brothel owners. The conditions were "prison-like" while many women working illegally enjoy lavish lifestyles. Society falsely believes brothels prevent the abuse of pimping. Often it means the woman is subjected to many pimps- the brothel owner, an outside connection, a boyfriend or a husband. Farley worked with Chong Kim, a survivor saying, "Some of the legal brothel owners are worse than any pimp. They abuse and imprison women, and are fully protected by the state."

Wake up! It's time to get realistic about adult sexuality? As long as there are powerful men chasing the dream of drinking sweet nectar there will be beautiful women willing to open their petals for money. A glamorous respectable woman entertaining gentlemen privately behind closed doors is not immoral. In fact, she is more ethical than the common, careless bar girlie giving it away for free. These women are often without character or self respect. Not to mention, a high priced escort is a lot safer. Ask your local public health worker. They will confirm HIV and STD's are uncommon among high priced prostitutes.

There are many different reasons men turn to prostitutes, physical ailments, diseases, terminal illnesses, abuse, hectic careers, loveless relationships, power. The list is endless. The numerous, valid reasons makes seeking sex outside traditional relationships epidemic. Religion has no place judging moralities of private, consenting sex between two responsible adults. Jesus fell in love with a prostitute. Making Mary a saint is the Roman Catholic Church's attempt to redeem a sin against woman. The story holds more than meets the human eye. By loving Mary Magdalene, Jesus was exuding unconditional love. A lesson perverted to despicable acts of the flesh, thus being made conditional. It was not a sin for him to fall-in-love with a desirable woman. Do you blame him? A true courtesan generally makes an incredible wife because she knows how to entirely fulfill a man while balancing hectic work and a chaotic family.

In our Nation's greatest time of economic crisis, let's seriously evaluate the financial benefits of a healthier approach to legalization. An approach that will stimulate the economy without violating human rights:

* Legalization would allow the crimes associated with an illegal market to be successfully punishable by the law.

* Our children would no longer be subjected to street walkers openly exposing adult activities on the corners of our communities.

* The majority of abuse and violence from pimps would be eliminated as well as the drugs openly supplied to many "street walkers" by drug lords. Drug habits increase the risk of spreading disease as well as cripple the users forcing them into state funded rehab programs.

* Human trafficking would become much more difficult. Prostitution should be a profession of choice not forced upon a woman or under-age girl.

* Adult Entertainment is the largest sector of Internet browsing today. Porn and novelty sales are at an all time high. Private adult entertainment is estimated to be a trillion dollar global market. Since prostitution is illegal in the US and many other parts of the world the income derived from these activities are never reported resulting in multi-millions of tax dollars going unclaimed.

As law abiding citizens, paying our taxes, let's think about the last statement. Don't get me wrong, f''ing for a living is more difficult than the common person imagines. Why do you think many significant others have to plead with their "better halves" to get sex on a regular basis? These same women denying their counter-parts pleasure are the "A" number one obstacle to legalizing an industry which keeps families united. I have news for you ladies! He's safer in the arms of a prostitute than your best friend's arms. The prostitute's not trying to thieve him away...just ask a Hollywood celebrity!

In an economic time of desperation, prostitution is still thriving. Escort agencies are being inundated with applications from women seeking financial relief. The average Internet escort is still making from 150.00 to 350.00 hourly. A mother will do anything to provide for her children. It's a natural instinct. There are several single mothers with children playing pro sports that engaged in prostitution to see their children achieve unthinkable dreams. The sports leagues are trying to keep these women from telling their stories. Why? These women sacrificed themselves in an act of love for their child's future. I don't call this unethical. I call it heroic!

In a town of 100 people you'll find at least two women selling their goodies. The practice of prostitution spans the entire globe. It's common to find married women and significant others discreetly practicing prostitution with the full knowledge of their husbands and boyfriends. Why? Because it beats working long hours trying to climb the corporate ladder for pennies on the dollar. The financial rewards allow these women additional time to focus on keeping the family unit strong. Their husbands and lovers accept acts of sexuality as a service. It's not a reflection of a faulty relationship.

The demand and supply of "paid sex" is eternal. Prostitution can be a respectable profession where women of outstanding character and allure move among society with dignity. The art form won't dissipate unless the human race becomes extinct.

By responsibly legalizing prostitution, we'll save tax payers dollars, decrease our national deficit and create hundreds possibly thousands of jobs in different sectors of regulation and licensing facilities. A major benefit, respectable consenting adults will be able to escape pressures of everyday life in the privacy of seductive chambers without the worries of breaking the law.
