Do younger Americans care about patriotism?

Around the world on every continent, Americans in uniform bearing the insignia of the American Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines and Coast Guard, stand ready, to make the supreme sacrifice for Honor, God, and Country. To the last man or woman, these people most exemplify what it is to be a patriot. The vast majority of these brave men and women who put life and limb at stake for American liberty, represent a new generation of Americans, they are America's young people, and every one of them is in the service of their country because they volunteered to be there. Is that not patriotism in its finest form?

There are some in our country who seem to thing that patriotism has something to do with politics, or what political party a citizen chooses to be associated with. It does not. Republican Governor Sarah Palin's son is out there in Afghanistan or Iraq, not to far away from Democratic Vice President Joe Biden's son. And patriotism has nothing to do with what God you believe in or the choice to believe or not to believe in gods at all. Visit one of our national cemeteries and on the grave markers you will find standing side by side Christian Crosses, the Jewish star of David, the crescent moon of Islam and other symbolic representations associated with Buddhism Hinduism and other religious beliefs. The only price of admission to such duty stations of hallowed ground is patriotism, as demonstrated through ones service to country and countryman.

In rebuttal to the assertions of another writer under this title, being born on American soil is not a criterion for American patriotism. Many people who immigrated to the united state have served this country faithfully in uniform, or in some other form of public service. Many of them were drafted for military service in World War II, Korea, and the Vietnam War. Many of them have served in the Senate, House of Representatives and in State government. The patriotic zeal of such naturalized citizens shines brighter than the rhetoric of those who's words are all their is to judge them by.

The question here is, can any American take licence to question the patriotism of any other? Certain radio and television talk show hosts, who when they had the chance to serve in the uniform of their country ducked the opportunity. Now they have the audacity to take free licence in questioning the patriotism of other Americans, particularly, of those who don't vote the way they want them to. In fact, if military or public service was a
