Introducing spirituality into your daily routine

by Diana Graham

Created on: May 29, 2009

Incorporating spirituality into our routine can enhance our lives if practiced daily. These simple methods only take minutes a day but it could bring calm to our sometimes hectic lives.

Start each day with a simple statement to yourself; I will not judge anything or anyone. Every time you find yourself passing judgment ask you're self why. Ask yourself what bothers you about a particular situation. You should note how you feel, accept it and then move on. Gently remind yourself not to judge.

Be still or silent in your favourite spot and reflect what is happening around you. Sit in your garden or by a body of water (if possible) and listen to nature's voice, the buzzing of a bee, the trickling of water or the sound of a bird chirping. Feel the sun or see the clouds, really focus on what you feel right in that moment. Really use all your senses.

Maintaining the ebb and flow of the energy of love and abundance is another way to connect. Everyday secretly send a message of love and abundance to every person you meet. Accept the love which is given to you and say thank you. Gratitude for what you already have is very important, try to mentally say thank you for all which you were given today.

Making choices everyday is something we all face. But how often do we stop to think how our decision will affect our loved ones or our life. Karma is something we need to ponder before a selection is made. Stop and think how you feel about each possible outcome and note what your gut feeling is with each one. Your intuition will lead you down the right path. It may not be what we originally wanted but you should go with what feels right.

Let go of all possible outcomes or future possible problems and try to imagine not having to worry about what will happen tomorrow. How much more energy would we have if we did this diligently? Think about all the time that is wasted on what hasn't even happened yet. Simply state silently, I accept this moment as is. It takes practice every moment of everyday. We need to focus more on what is rather than what could or should be.

Laughing is as important to our spirit as air is to our lungs. If you simply laugh at yourself or a movie, it can lift your stamina. Seeing the humour in the everyday things will bring lightness to your day. Simply smiling can do wonders to your demeanour.

Keep your desires close to your heart. Put them down in writing and look at it often. Make a detailed list of all the things which you want out of life. Sometimes writing things down can help you focus on what you really want. Make a plan how to obtain your desires and know if things don't go the way you planed, the divine has something better in mind for you. There is a reason for everything. Everything is always as it should be.
