to download and install. When you run it, Ad-Aware (or other spyware removal tool) will search through all the files on your computer, and in your computer's memory to find known spyware files and patterns. At the end it will give you a list of what it found. This is good because some things it finds might be legitimate cookies for websites you visit where you want to keep your preferences or such. Normally you are safe to just delete its recommended files. Once you have the spyware removal tool installed, you should run it once a week or more to ensure your computer remains spyware free and running fast.
#4. Remove viruses
Viruses, trojans, and worms are all malicious software that can infect your computer through email attachments, files you download, and other sources. Where spyware takes information from your computer, often viruses are more concerned about spreading and taking names of other people they can infect rather than stealing your bank passwords. As with spyware, there are antivirus tools to remove known viruses. Some of the popular antivirus tools are Norton Antivirus, Panda Antivirus, FortiClient and AVG. Free antivirus tools are not as good as ones you pay for, but they are better than nothing. Tools you pay for will be more up to date, and find more recent viruses. Once you have the tool, you should run it once a week to ensure your computer is virus-free and running fast!
#4. Add more memory
Windows has always wanted more memory on your computer. This is true for Vista more than ever. If your computer has the minimum recommended memory for your version of Windows, it will run slowly. One of the cheapest and easiest upgrades to speed up your computer is to add more memory or RAM. If you aren't sure what you are doing, it is best to take your computer to a computer store to either have them install the memory or at least make sure you are getting the right kind. Memory comes in different sizes (larger or smaller physical size), different amounts (how much memory there is measured in G or Gigabytes), and speeds (normally you want to match the speed of your memory to the bus speed of your CPU). If this is meaningless to you, let the technician help you choose memory and install it for you. You will instantly see an improvement in speed!
#5. Buy a faster hard drive
Your hard drive spins while an arm reads data as it passed underneath. So it makes sense that the faster the drive spins, the faster it can read data. This logic holds true.
