In the Twilight
Sometimes, in the twilight of the evening,
I sit beneath my warm blanket, and
I think about the choices I have made for my life.
I remember my youth, when all my summers were
ahead of me. I remember when I had no thoughts of winter.
And now that winter has come, it has taken me rather by surprise.
I can no longer dance in the sun.
I confess, I am a bit vexed, because
I cannot chase the wind, or ride the waves.
Oh where, oh where, is my elusive youth?
I sit in the twilight and ponder.
I sit in the twilight and grieve.
I sit in the twilight and weep bitter tears.
Oh where, oh where, is my elusive youth?

Poetry: Growing old
steps much slower than before
as time creeps up upon my door

In fifty years we will be nothing more than a mass of wrinkled weathered skin and fragile bones
Our memories and stories

And looking back at me,
Are the telltale signs of wrinkles,
And gray hair their company.
My knees
COULD IT BE I’M GETTING OLD
Age is a thing we all must face;
We’ll all grow old some day
unless, of course,
Twisted just like gray lovers under the covers
I will love you until the end
And we will dry up like prunes
