The Heavenly Father allows pain and heartache to come into our lives to make us stronger. To show the faith that we have in him to others and it helps us to draw closer to him.
In my life alone I have seen what can happen when I stray away from my loving Father. When I am not on my knees praying or worshiping Him like I should, that is when the hurts seem to come in droves. We get on ego trips and think that we can handle everything, instead we mess things up worse than when we started. I for instance will give God something and take it back, give it to him and take it back, then he will put something in my life that will cause me to cave in and not take it back.
In the book of Job, God allowed all of those things to happen to him, he lost everything he had, and when his wife told him to curse God and die, he told his wife she was foolish, that he would not turn his back on his God.
Last night at church, a young man gave his testimony, of how he thought that he was a child of God. Whenever he was a young boy he had gone to church with his parents, and that he did all the churchy things. But as a young man, he was almost killed, a tractor turned over on top of him, he broke his back and had the hot oil pour out on him while he was trapped under it, he actually clinically died. You would have thought that after a trauma like this he would have made sure that God was a part of his life, no, he did not, it was not until after he was married, a baby on the way did he wake up and turn around, he was hooked on prescription medications from the earlier accident did God really get a hold of him. He thought he was about too loose everything, so he gave his life to the Lord and the Lord brought him back into the fold and he is sharing what God has done for him.
I have had a disease all of my life, my bladder does not work, and I have had to live with it, but God has made me strong. I had major surgery in November 1999 to have it disconnected, and now I wear a pouch, but the Lord has helped me to overcome the pain. Two months after my surgery my husband was in a head on collision and was told he would probably never walk again, but with the Lords help he is up and walking.
These things in our lives made us depend on the only one that can help in these situations and that is God. If we were up all the time and never had any problems then we would not know that the Lord can and will handle them, He keeps us grounded and focused on him. He can and will take care of everything for us.
Our prayers do get answered and it might not be the way we want them to be answered but His will is done. An example is when my daddy was sick and dieing, we all prayed that he would be healed, God healed him in Heaven, he took him home, and we don't have to see him suffer anymore, selfishly we wanted him here with us, but God wanted him there with him, and we accepted that, even though it hurt terribly.
I have often said, I don't know how people who do not know the Lord can go through a time of crisis, especially when they loose someone they love, especially a child. I know my self, that I don't know if I lost one of mine how I would handle it, but I know that God would see me through it, it.
People watch us when we are going through crisis in our lives, how we handle situations. Will we trust in the Lord to guide us or will we throw our hand up and scream, rant and rave, curse ? You never know who is watching you either..
God is Great and He is Good and he shows us his love in many different ways, including allowing his children to suffer through the pain and grow in His grace.
