If you try to embrace it
It cannot be held
If you try to erase it
It won't do you well
You can spend life defeated
With thy jaw on the ground
Then a blessing you've missed
We've only one go-round
There may be an afterlife
Or is the grave eternal sleep
What I know for sure

Perhaps I will bless
Someone today
With a smile or a friendly ear
As they go along their way

When from a kind path
One departs.
So while I freely admit
There's good times and bad
My goal is to cherish each moment of life
As long as I can.
