It must have happened to you many a times that your achievements have made your family very happy and proud of you. And eventually you took pride in yourself that you have made them happy with your achievements. And this continued till one day you realized that the dreams you have been chasing was not actually your own but the expectation of others and till now you have been happy because others were happy about you. So in your success where does your happiness lie? Does it lie in fulfilling the expectations of others or in your own success?

Actually success and happiness are correlated. Let us see what is the actual meaning of becoming successful? Success can be termed as any actions that make you happy. For that matter actions which causes stress and strain in your mind and does not make you happy cannot be termed as success. So if you are happy then you are successful but if you are successful does it always mean you are happy?

Therefore there should be no hesitation in your endeavor to be happy. After all it is the self fulfillment that makes one happy. And that what success is all about. But nevertheless there are those authorities who always decide what is best for their children and push them hard to meet the ends of their own needs. Actually they want to fulfill their own dreams through their children which they have not been successful to achieve. And in the run for achieving their dreams the children forget to cherish their own and one day they wake up all dissatisfied with their decision but then it is too late for them. And they turn up to their children for this fulfillment and the vicious circle starts.

But instead of throwing the load of their expectation if the parents trust their children and help the child in making his own decision of fulfilling his dreams then they will not just make an attempt to make their child happy for the rest of his life but also have the content deep down their own heart.

Success in chasing someone else's dream does not bring in the happiness in the life as fulfilling own dream does. This could be the reason why most of the people in their mid- thirties or forties suddenly realize that they are in the wrong profession. And regret the decision they had made in their earlier years. And the very thought of starting all over again makes them go weak. They continue to live their life as it is but with little contentment. They just linger on with the time and lose the jest of life eventually. But those who really feel the need deep inside take up the challenge and become happy. And eventually they become successful also.

Similar situation can be seen in some married couple also. Initially to make the parent happy they get married with the alliance decided by their parent. They never give any priority to their own thinking. For some years they think their marriage is successful because others are happy about them. But eventually down the line the cracks starts appearing in the relationships which is quite visible but either they keep on dragging their marriage or call it off. In either case if they make their own decision then they will be happy for the rest of their life. So success is where your happiness lies.
