Secretaries work behind the scenes to keep businesses running smoothly. Show your appreciation for the secretary in your company by celebrating Secretary's Day with your secretary and other office support staff.
Take Your Secretary Out to Lunch
Ask your secretary's coworkers for restaurant ideas. If you're sneaky, you can casually ask your secretary directly. Tell him or her you are thinking about taking a client out to lunch and would like to know if they have any favorites restaurants they could suggest.
On Secretary's Day, come into the office at lunch time and make a big deal about taking your secretary out to lunch. Secretaries do not often receive many pats on the back, so this fanfare will really be appreciated.
Give Your Secretary a Gift Certificate
Your secretary works hard, but doesn't always get paid what they're contribution to the company is worth. Why not supplement your secretary's income a little by presenting them with a gift certificate?
You can purchase an inexpensive Secretary's Day greeting card and pass it around the office so everyone can sign it. Then, place the gift card into the card. Present the card to your secretary in front of the entire office so they know everyone appreciates their efforts.
Let Your Secretary Work a Half Day on Secretary's Day
Give your secretary some time off. The company won't be out too much money by paying them for only a half day, but the value to your secretary will be great.
Any secretary would enjoy a little paid time off. They can go and do something for themselves like see a movie or spend some extra time with their children.
Get Your Secretary a Gift for Their Desk
A gift that will sit on your secretary's desk all year is a great idea. Every time your secretary sees this gift, they will remember that all of their hard work is valued by you and the company.
Great gifts for Secretary's Day could be a frame for pictures of their family, a beautiful plant, or a candy dish filled with goodies. Make sure the gift is something fun or ornamental instead of something they would use just for work.
Give a Short Speech on Secretary's Day
Everyone likes to be recognized and appreciated. Take a few minutes to tell everyone in your office why you appreciate all the hard work done by your secretary. Cite specific instances that you noticed your secretary doing exceptional work.
This special recognition will not only please your secretary, but it will motivate them to keep up the good work and work even harder. Appreciation and recognition go a long way towards motivating employees.
Concluding Secretary's Day
No matter how you celebrate Secretary's Day, make sure you thank your secretary as they leave the office. A sincere "thank you" is often all your secretary is looking for.
