On a stormy day in April, Annette is sitting alone in her one story cottage, watching as the rain come pouring down on her beautiful lawn. Tears in her eyes, she is pondering on all of the things she has lost in the last ten years. Her husband, her kids, friends and luxurious lifestyle, all disappeared over the one mistake she made in having an affair with her best friend's husband. Why did she do it? She has asked this question to herself for the last ten years. She have experience ten years of heartaches and pain, not seeing her children on special holidays, not an invitation to any parties, and being all alone in a small town where everybody knows everyone.
Ten years ago, a couple moved next door to her in the Wilson's estate, in the exquisite Rolling Hills community. Rolling Hills residents were the wealthiest people in the small town of Livingston. The couple's named was Neil and Angela; they had two sons, and a daughter. After moving in next door to Annette's family, they became the best of friends. Angela and Annette had so much in common, both had three children, husband's who owned large companies and both belong to the same social clubs. Annette always wanted someone in her life like Angela. They were more like sisters than best friends.
Annette was so happy to finally climb up the social ladder and gain the respect of the upper class. Her husband, Bob owned the largest mill company in Livingston. Livingston Mill Company had in its employment of over 2,000 workers. Bob had inherited the company and the town from his family. When Annette and Bob first start dating, Bob's family did not like the idea of Bob dating a girl from the wrong side of track. Annette married into money; she had it hard in her life before she married Bob. Growing up poor, Annette had to take care of her alcoholic father, abused mother, and five sidings. Marrying Bob was the highlight of her life; it felt as if she had escaped from a maximum-security prison. He had freed her from all of the sorrows, poverty, and anger she had stored inside of herself for years.
In the last 10 years, guilt and shame has overwhelmed her. Annette cries herself to sleep every night. In addition, when she was married, she was a beautiful and happy woman. Now she has aged, and looking her best seems unimportant to her. When Bob found out she was having an affair, she ended it with Neil and begged for her husband forgiveness.
