Only the Love of God is greater than a mother's Love.

God looked upon the face of the earth and said, " I will create someone whose love will come close to mines. I will form someone who will love unconditionally. One who will bring forth fruit, work, cultivate and protect. I will call her mother."

Mattie looked at her son as he laid with all of the wires and tubes attached to his little body. She had not looked into his eyes for weeks. The tears streamed down her face as she remembered the bright eyed playful little boy he use to be. The doctor entered the room with a grim report. Ms. Anderson as you already know Jarred needs a kidney transplant in order to survive. He is currently at the top of the list, but we still have not had any success." Mattie looked at the doctor and said, "Suppose you do not find a match?" "Ms. Anderson I think you already know the answer to that." replied the doctor. "Well, why can't you use my kidney? You know it is a match you have already tested me."said Mattie. "Ms. Anderson even though you are a match you have other health issues that may interfere and we do not want to jeopardize your life." said the doctor. "Doctor my child is more important. I have lived my life he is just starting and has his whole life ahead of him" said Mattie. "Ms. Anderson it is too risky we will not do it. We may lose both of you." said the doctor as he left the room. Mattie sat in the hospital room and talked to Jarred. "Jarred, you will live and not die. You have so many great things to accomplish. I will not let you die." Mattie stood up, she knew what she had to do. She kissed Jarred on the cheek and left the room.

Mattie went home and began to think what her life would be like without Jarred. She could only image a life of loneliness and despair. Every since her husband died in an automobile accident two years ago her life centered around Jarred. He became her reason for getting up in the morning. When Jarred was diagnosed with a kidney disease the following year she felt as if her world was turned up side down again.

Mattie returned to the hospital the next morning to discover that Jarred was getting worst. She found the doctor and pleaded with him. She wanted to donate her kidney to save her child. The pleading fell on deaf ears the doctor still refused. Mattie went back into her son's room and kissed him on his forehead. She looked at him as he laid there helpless and motionless.

Mattie ran out of the hospital room and down the stairs. She ran outside of the building and continued running into the street. She held her breath as she stood in front of a car. The driver stomped her brakes, but was unable to avoid hitting Mattie.

Jarred was rushed into surgery. He had received his mother's kidney. Mattie was an organ donor. She not only saved her son's life but she gave her heart, her eyes and other organs to people who had been waiting to receive organs. Mattie saved seven lives that day.

After the surgery Jarred awoke the next day screaming,"Where is my mother?"

Only the love of God is stronger than a mother's love.
