In My Season
I am in my season now.
Bold, brassy, and sassy.
Embracing my natural curves. Accepting them.
I remember in days gone by,
Longing for that lean perfectness,
for that illusive ideal of beauty.
But, Im in my season now.
I am strong enough to define beauty on my own terms.
Beauty is me. A black woman strong and proud.
Beauty is a smile that encompasses the universe.
Beauty is an enchanting song. Beauty is the echo of my laughter on a sunny day.
Beauty is me. Standing in front of the mirror embracing my curves.
Bold, Brassy, and Sassy. Beautiful, indeed.
Ah, yes. 'Tis true. I am in my season now.

Hips too wide
Hair where it shouldn't be

My Flaws
I'm too thin; I'm too fat,
I could never wear that!
With my dark circled eyes
And my thick, flabby thighs

"Doll"
A doll-
a mold of false identity,
this stereotypical entity
we all take for granted.
This doll-
replete with secrets, childish

Imperfection
My thighs are fat
Shaped like a pear
Yet the best of me
Does not lie there
My tummy a bit chubby
Not flat
by Sarah Martin
Happy to be 'big'.
Ribs visible and a sixteen inch waist,
Her shapely body must have been misplaced.
This five stone delight
