Teaching children the academics is very helpful for them but teaching other important things is better because it would further teach them to face real life situations. There are lots of things that children need to learn especially in this time when technology is so complicated that every child must be taught the most important skills to face in the adult life.

What are classes that could help kids beyond simple academics?

1. Life skills

People always talk about life skills and what is does to a person's life. Children must be taught simple life skills that will help them have a better grasp of the real life situations. There are lots of things that children need to know and these things must be introduced to them at an earlier age so that they will have better understanding of the situations as they grow up.

What life skills must be taught to children?

- Children must be taught to handle situations when they are faced with it without an adult to help them. Teaching first aid to children will be very useful. The simple ways of helping someone who is hurt or injured could be very useful to a child's life.

- Preparing and cooking simple dishes too is very important.

- Mending and sewing will teach the children to know how to mend or sew their torn clothes even without the elders.

- Filling out application forms of any kind.

- Making a record of important matters.

- Writing a journal.

- Making plans for something.

2. Business skills

As early as possible, children must be introduced the world of business. There are ways of teaching the kids to do this. They can be assigned to sell something in the school canteen so that they will know the importance of business in the life of people.

3. Hobbies

Children must be taught the importance of hobbies to a person's life. They must also choose a hobby and develop it with the help of the teachers and parents. This will help them understand life situations better.

4. Money management and saving

Children are often spared from financial problems but it is better for them to learn money management and saving while they are young. By teaching them about money matters while they are young they will become money smart when they grow up.

5. Environment awareness

Children should have also a subject about the environment. Today when Mother Earth is having a problem with too much pollution, it is time the kids are enlightened and contribute to the solution of the global problem. Children must have a part in saving Mother Earth and this could only be achieved if children are educated about the environment and the problems regarding it..

6. Handling simple problems in school and at home

Children must be taught to handle simple problems like how to handle bullies or how to go about sibling rivalry at home. If children are taught the right way of handling simple problems and real life situations they will become better people and they will learn how to manage on their own.

Children have a lot to learn beyond academics. Academics do not make the child learn to face real life situations they only improve the child's intellectual skills. If children will be taught every skill and ways to get by and become more productive people then there would be lesser problems around.
