Tribute to mothers

It has been a long time since my mother died. I was only fifteen years old that time, but I could still remember what she has done to all of us. My mother was the best mother I've ever known. She has made me feel better during the times when I was so down. She made me look at things in the more positive way when I was so hopeless. During the trying times in our life she was there. She was always there to take care of us and everything because our father was always out somewhere finding ways to earn a living and provide for us what we needed.

My mother always sacrificed too much for us. She made sure we were happy and doing fine. When we were sick she sat beside us the whole night, often not being able to sleep thinking how to ease our pain and make us felt better. Her heart and mind was always for us as she went on with her works. Sometimes I often thought how mother has survived the hard times with father often away many months before he came home.

Mother was not beautiful but she had a way of making herself beautiful in our eyes. She taught me that beauty is in the simplicity of the woman and not the make up that she wore. I haven't seen mother wore any make up nor did she had lipstick on but it was as expected being that no woman in my place wore make up before. It was mother whom I learned that to be a woman takes one more than just a mother to her children and a wife to her husband. It was mother who taught me that being a woman is like being everything you are from a mother, to a father, to a teacher, a friend, a nurse, a worker and everything possible for a woman to do.

Mother never fought with father to my knowledge. She was always doing everything for us and for father. They were both very happy and I often times thought that should I marry I want to be as happy as mother and father. Their simple way of looking at things made them happy and survived the crisis.

Mother was a disciplinarian who made us taste the pain of being spanked with the stick on our bottom but afterwards she made us something to make us felt better. Although she spanked us, she made us felt that we were loved and cared for all the time. I could never forget how mother raised us the best ways she could. There were always trying times during those days when mother was still alive and she did everything she could in order to make the situation easier for us.

I want to tell you that mother was never cruel to us even with all the problems that
