The essence of a beautiful mind

A beautiful mind is something I've encountered rarely in life. The first person who comes to mind when I begin thinking about "the essence of a beautiful mind" is someone whose mind is active. Not only active but his mind seems to be searching continuously for nourishment among fantasy fiction, puzzles, anything that provokes laughter, and fabulously frivolous daily activities.

Surely, what one feeds one's mind creates the essence. I feel I have a responsibility to feed my own mind whatever will give it great beauty. Using my eyes to soak up multi-colored anime or artwork such as Renoir or Monet, can infuse my mind with lightness and beauty and seem to eradicate any of the ugliness that could seep in should I let it.

Thinking positively and associating myself with positive thinking people has helped to beautify my mind. My friend with the active mind that I mention above is one such uniquely positive person. It's as if he leaves no room in his mind for clutter or dusty drab negative thought. All our interactions are fun and full of cheer. He makes jokes out of any situation and is willing and able to laugh at himself. This brings me to the issue of character. Those who can laugh at their own foibles, have beautiful character. A beautiful mind encompasses character and so much more and cannot be described in just a few paragraphs.

I believe with the right attitude or perhaps with the right coaching, anyone can develop a beautiful mind regardless of one's life circumstances. What it takes is a willingness to let go of heavy thoughts while replacing them one by one with the ideas and things of this world that are awe-inspiring and beautiful. Paying attention to how one feels while thinking and interacting with others is a good way to gauge whether or not something or someone is good for the goal of beautifying the mind. In some cases, it is necessary to limit one's interaction with acquaintances who bring only negativity into one's mind. Although it is good to learn patience around people who don't help one beautify one's mind, it is sometimes necessary to limit time spent with such people, to create a healthy mind. A beautiful mind *is* a healthy mind.
