Women are better drivers, safety conscious, relatively less risk-takers in driving when compared to men. Women could be slow learners in driving, but that's just the nature of women, being cautious. Women are more responsible when compared to counterpart men. Women tend to abide by the rules and laws more than the men. Women do not hit the road just for the sake of driving. They drive if there is a necessity, if they need to go for shopping or need to pick up a family member or to office, unlike men who tend to drive for the sake of driving.

Men are more adventurous by nature compared to women, and the youngsters especially teenage boys, are more into trying out dangerous stuff that includes on roads too. It is known that, 70% of the drivers on the road are men and 70% of the road usage has been by men. It is also known from statistics that male drivers are involved in almost twice as many road accidents than female drivers. Most of the accidents are the result of speeding and 'drinking and driving' and these acts incline to the risk-taking behavior, the nature more related to men.

Women do not 'wear and tear' the vehicle that they drive. The maintenance on the vehicle that a woman drives is much less when compared to a man driving the same vehicle. Women also tend to use the driving skills that they acquired during the driving lessons throughout their driving tenure unlike men who tend to become overconfident with their driving. Because of this developed over-confident nature, male drivers tend to do more tasks while driving, like frequently changing radio channels, or CDs\DVDs, playing with gadgets, talking on cell phone, etc and finally loosing control of the wheel. Male driver's attention can easily be distracted with various ads and posters on road-sides.

Of course, we find very responsible male drivers too. I have also been in vehicles that were driven by a male drivers, and their facial expression would just change no sooner they see a female driver driving in parallel to their vehicle, and they would utter "oh that's why". The preconceived notion that women drivers are accident prone is registered in the minds of some people whether it is true or not. And if there happens to be ONE accident involving a women driver, they would shout aloud to prove their pre-existing belief. Gradually, statistics is proving these conceptions or beliefs wrong, and for good.

To conclude, lets all try to be responsible and safe drivers and not road-rage drivers. It is life that we could be saving.
