Save the planet, save more money, and save your waistline in one foul swoop. Now that's a superhero that's needed in these not so super times. That superhero is you.

It's not that most people don't know what they need to do in order to stay fit, save more and be better citizens of the planet-it's just for most all of us it adds up to more to do. Aren't we doing enough already? What we all are looking for are ways to simplify our lives without over thinking or overworking-which only leads to more unhealthy behaviors and choices including spending money we don't have on foods that aren't good for us. Not to fret help is here.

Let's talk facts first, meat cost. It costs not only in price, it also cost sin the way livestock is harvested to produce the meat we consume. Animals have to be housed and fed before they are killed-which costs money and takes up more space. The methane gas that cows emit is a known major contributor to carbon dioxide gases. That said this article is not advocating that we stop meat consumption altogether. Animal protein has its benefits coupled with the fact that it tastes good. What is being advocated is eating meat in moderation. So the cost benefits of a well balanced aren't outweighed by the cost deficits to put those meals on the table, and those pounds on the body.

There are multitudes of resources to help you achieve a balanced budget and a balanced diet, including books, magazines and TV shows but this article focus will be online resources. One such place is http://www.333natural.com/. A website dedicated to showing one how to prepare meals for a family of three for $3.33 cents per day! That's about as close to free is you can get. And this is from a woman who has to feed two teenage boys. So not only do the meals need to be cost effective they have to be filling and taste good.

If you're the kind of person that likes a bit of a challenge visit http://www.thecrunchychicken.com/2009/03/sustainable -food-budget-challenge.html. After reading the article scroll down to the bottom of the page and enter the contest on how to eat healthier on a budget. It offers up a chart on sustainability and also allows a little more flexibility than the $3.33 budget might afford you.

Another great site that might catch your attention is getrichslowly.org. Which points to another terrific benefit of eating healthier is you also end up saving money. The article is titled Healthy Food on and unhealthy budget. And provides links to responses to great questions. While you are there you may wish to type in some questions of your own. The link to the article can be found at http://www.getrichslowly.org/blog/2006/06/01/healthy -food-on-an-unhealthy-budget/.

Remember rather you are approaching your diet on a budget because you're experienceing tough economic circumstances or simply because you'd like to get healthier and save money-you're on the right track to becoming richer in so many ways. There are no downsides to a fitter more frugal lifestyle. You save money, save for your future and save the planet all at once. Now that's something worth digging your teeth into.
