Journal ideas for scrapbookers

Most people think that the pictures are the most important part of scrapbooking. It is true that they play a very important part, but journaling actually plays the most important part. Journaling is what ties the whole page together and really tells the story. Although you may remember perfectly what happened, where it was and who was there, that may not always be the case. Scrapbooking is also a way to preserve your memories for future generations. You will not always be there to tell the stories so journaling is a way to help those who are looking at the page remember or feel what went on. Journaling usually scares people so here are six fun and easy ways you can add journaling to your scrapbook pages.

Basic Journaling-
This is a great place for beginners to start. You want to focus on the events of the page. The most important details are: the date, the location and who's in the picture. You can simply write this on the page or add parts of it in accents like stickers or stamps. Just make sure that you add it to the pages somewhere. If you are creating several pages about the same event it helps to make all the pages match in some form. This way you can add the journaling to just one or two of the pages and your readers will know what is going on. This is also a great technique to use on those obvious pages like Christmas, Birthdays and other holidays.

Title Journaling-
This is where you would let the title really tell the story. Most pages incorporate some form of a title; however the object of title journaling is for the title to convey what the pictures are about. A title such as "Snow Much Fun" helps to indicate a really fun time out in the snow. You can also try simple titles such as "Trick or Treat" or "Bath Time". When using title journaling you are conveying the major action of the picture with the title. To complete title journaling you can use basic journaling to fill in the other small details.

Story Journaling-
In most cases a picture is worth a thousand words however sometimes you actually need to write those thousand words. So maybe we shouldn't write a thousand words, but we need to tell the story of what actually happened. This would be when there is more to the story than what you see in the picture. Maybe there were several events that let up to what happened or the best part was what happened afterwards. Telling the story in your own words is also a great way for others to connect with you. They can see the events
