Recipes: Hot dogs, wieners and frankfurters, your best recipe

Here is a recipe for a gastronomical surprise, using only four ingredients and satisfying your hot dog craving. They aren't ordinary hot dogs; they are crispy and tasty with a different cheese and bacon taste. Sure to please the hot dog lovers in your life.

Hot Dog Surprises

Ingredients:

1 lb. of your favorite frankfurters. Ball Park franks plump when you cook them!

1 - 8 oz. jar of Cheese Whiz

10 slices white or wheat bread

5 slices of bacon

With a rolling pin, roll slices of bread out thinly. Spread slices of bread rather generously with Cheese Whiz. Place a frankfurter in the corner of a slice of bread and roll it up to the opposite corner.

Cut bacon slices in half and wrap one half bacon slice around the bread roll. Anchor the ends of the bacon strip with toothpicks.

Toast under broiler, about five minutes. Turn and toast underside another five minutes - or until the bacon starts to crisp and the bread starts turning brown. You be the judge - broil until the bacon is as crisp as you like it.

Remove from broiler and serve.

You can also add or change some of the ingredients. Chopped onions sprinkled on the Cheese Whiz before rolling the hot dogs makes for a pleasant addition for onion lovers. A can of chili with or without beans, heated and poured over the top will fill you up faster. Make sure to have the antacids handy!

These hot dogs can be served as a main dish. They are quick and easy to make. No heating up the house in summer months and a great meal after a busy day when you don't want to cook much. They are great served with watermelon slices, carrot and celery sticks, potato or corn chips.

They are not very good reheated but you probably won't have a problem with that. They are delicious, filling and satisfying. Sure to be gone in one serving. Bon appetit!
