Investigate the fitness and nutrition resources available to you in your community or through a wellness program your employer might offer employees. Another effective resource is your public library. Many public libraries have have exercise DVDs for you to check out as well as books on fitness topics. This kind of scouting around may pique your interest in, yoga, Pilates, Weight Training , dance, or other activities in which you can look into and add more movement options to your weekly movement schedule.
The Keys to Success
One key to getting well rounded exercise without going to a gym is to do a variety of movement to increase your flexibility, strength, and endurance. Burning fat and calories may seem like your objective, but maintaining range of motiion, flexibility and muscle strength is also very important.
Another key to success is engaging in shorter periods of walking or other movement activites that, over the course of the day, will add-up to improved fitness and increased calories burned.
You can make a fitness commitment by putting your plan in writing. Notes to yourself on your mirror, refrigerator, calendar, desk, closet or other location can be very effective. Whether these notes are reminders or praise, these communications with yourself are key to keeping your fitness strategy going.
