Get fit without the expense of joining a gym. You can increase your activity level, burn more calories, and improve your sense of physical and mental well-being, without a costly gym membership. You can do this by reorganizing your day to include more movement. Increasing your movement and cutting back on your calorie intake will result in weight loss.
Increasing activity level - Move more
Walk when you can because those steps add up and can be just the thing to the number of calories your burn over a week's time. Instead of prowling for the better parking space in a crowded parking lot, park farther out where there are plenty of parking spaces and walk. Over time, this habit will significantly add to your "calories burned account," especially if walking in from a crowded parking lot is a way of life for you. Akin to that new habit, find the stairwell and use the stairs instead of an elevator in buildings where you go on business or for doctor and dentist visits. You might find that you are fairly winded at first when you arrive at the top, but you will even feel your fitness improve when you keep this up for a few weeks or months.
Making friends, renewing friendships.
Keep your eyes and ears open for friends or colleagues who are looking for a workout partner. This should be someone who is at or near your fitness level and is trying to follow a time schedule similar to yours. Your common fitness interests will serve as a foundation of friendship and shared goals. From here, you might meet others who want the motivational incentive of working out with others just like you.
Do you have a friend who you haven't been in touch with for a while? Does this friend live in your community. Invite your friend to join you for a walk or other activity. You can re-establish your friendship and enjoy each other's company again. An alternative, still capitalizing on the buddy system is to contact a friend who lives out of the area. Even with miles between you, you can set goals together and support each other by phone, email, or texting. You can congratulate each other for successes and encourage each other if you have setbacks.
Including all aspects of fitness in your movement.
To be truly fit, you need to develop your flexibility, strength, as well as endurance. Burning fat and calories always seems like the goal,but maintaining flexibility and muscle strength is just as important. Include stretching in your day as well as the use of some light weights. Instead of
