Great places to visit in Michigan

Michigan has something for everyone to enjoy from the very young to the very old. Michigan has a variety of activities year round. If you are planning a trip to Michigan with your children Muskegon has Michigan Adventure a family amusement park http://www.miadventure.com/ . It's a reasonably priced amusement park that includes rides as well as a waterpark.

Pictured Rocks http://www.nps.gov/piro/ is one place you must see. Located in the upper peninsula you will find gorgeous scenery such as waterfalls, so don't forget to bring a camera. It's in Munising, Michigan and there are hiking trails so if you enjoy hiking this is a place you will want to visit. They offer kayaking, snoeshowing, and several other outdoor activities.

Mackinaw Island http://www.mackinac.com/ is an interesting place to visit. They have no cars on the island leaving you to travel by bike, carriage, or foot. You'll take the ferry to the island and walk into a victorian style community. Many people get married on Mackinaw island as it can be a great place for romance. They filmed part of the movie "Somewhere In Time" with the late Christopher Reeve.

Tahquamenon falls http://www.exploringthenorth.c om/tahqua/tahqua.html is a quite popular site to visit. From their sled dog racing events to camping and hiking you'll find an exciting adventure awaits.

Houghton Lake, Michigan otherwise referred to as "tip up town" http://www.tip-up-townusa.com/ cgi-bin/tutusa2006/index.html has a wide variety of winter activities. Snowmobiling, turkey bowling, and the ice slide are just a few of things you'll experience. A word of caution for those bringing children, the polar bear dip can sometimes spark some young women to take off their tops.

Boyne mountain offers skiing and an indoor waterpark http://www.boyne.com/BoyneMoun tain/index.html. The Clock Tower Lodge has not been updated for historical purposes, so you may have to crack a window at night to sleep comfortably. However, the newer Grand Lodge is just across the park for a slightly higher cost.

Frankenmuth has a German theme with the Bavarian buildings and attractions. Perhaps the most interesting place to visit in Frankenmuth is Bronner's Christmas Wonderland the world's largest Christmas store http://www.bronners.com/. They also offer several festivals the Bavarian fest, the summer music festival and Oktoberfest. In the winter they have ice sculpters come from all over the world to compete in a competition.

Bay City, Michigan is famous for it's summer festivals which include the Appledore tall ships festival and the river roar http://riverroar.com/. If taking risks is your thing you can visit Mt Pleasant, Michigan and soar through the air as you leap from a plane with the Mt Pleasant skydivers http://www.1800skyride.com/Sky diving/MtPleasant/. If you don't want to take that big of a risk you can always risk your money at the Soaring Eagle Casino.

Whatever your interest, whether it is nature, roller coasters, skiing, boating, skydiving, scuba diving, water skiing, hiking or just plain walking Michigan has something to offer you.
