The blanket of night still covers the sky
She leans over to stop the screech of the alarm
Dragging on the outfit, that only a man would choose
Still shaking her head in discussed, at its unflattering display
Pulling in the lot, with the lights blinking against the night
The punch card is full from the long hours she pulled
A waitress is the glue that binds all the souls
To feed, to talk, to laugh, and to be rude
Hiding under the softness of smiles, reeks the evil of a beast
Unknown to most, but it is still there just waiting
Waiting for the time to blear its ugly face, to ruin the day
To make the waitress wonder why she still stays

Poetry: Waiters and waitresses
by Bobby Coles
Days are long and dreary
Soul tortured and weary
Others scoff and judge
Chip on your shoulder will not budge
Happiness
The blanket of night still covers the sky
She leans over to stop the screech of the alarm
Dragging on the outfit, that
Please Pass the Salt or
The Working Waitress
When a person shows both sets of their teeth
the upper can symbolize a genuine
Just for a moment in time
royalty is what we are as
they serve our food
with a humble smile
We demand this and that
