Massage is one of the oldest and most under-rated forms of healing and wellness there is. Besides the fact that it helps to enhance the effectiveness of every other form of therapy, it also helps to enhance every single function of the body. Most people feel that massage is a luxury; you get one for special occasions, holidays, vacations, and gifts. The truth of the matter is that massage is no more a luxury than eating, drinking and sleeping. It is one of those essentials that simply if obtained on a regular basis will inevitably increase the health, wellness and lifespan of all people.
What happens in the body when someone receives a massage is actually very incredible. Circulation increases providing more oxygenation to all the organs of your body. This helps functioning of the body in general. With organs working more efficiently, your waste system pumps more toxins out of your body, your digestive system works at a higher efficiency, which increases your metabolism as well as fat burning ability. Your cerebral spinal fluid flows more freely to your brain, which increases your clarity of thought and your reaction time. Stress factors don't affect you as much, and that decreases the chance of illness, and stress related diseases. Not only does massage affect every aspect of your body as far as the functioning of organs and so forth, but massage also decreases the amount of time it takes to heal from injuries and allows for more flexibility and a more comfortable feeling within your body. You actually feel good being in your body.
There are so many benefits to massage that the old idea of it being a luxury is outdated. Let's analyze the benefits more closely. First I would like to focus on the luxury aspect of a massage. Massage feels good. There is something about being touched by another human being in a loving healing way that allows a person to relax and let go of all the outside stress of the day. It is amazing to look at the difference between someone's face when they first go in for a massage, and the change after a massage. It softens people, and takes away a lot of the anger and pain that our lives can produce. People that receive massages on a regular basis are typically more patient, and more understanding of others. Just think what it would be like if everyone you knew was more relaxed. Can you picture the difference in your boss, your wife or husband, your children or parents, your stepparents and relatives, or even just that person on the road
