How learning about New Age is open to everyone

Before going on with my essay I would like to say that I do not really like the term New Age for many of the philosophies associated with the term. Isn't it right that the term New Age is simply referring to the fact that we are indeed passing from the age of Pisces into the age of Aquarius? That is an astronomical fact and though I, like many other 'new age' thinkers out there, believe it to be a kind of threshold after which our world will be changed; many of these concepts we discuss are not new age in origin. In fact, most of these ways of thinking originated thousands of years ago. So that being said I will continue with my essay, I believe that this title will fit it most appropriately but I don't often refer to the awakening as 'new age.'

The journey to self discovery starts with one, often awkward, step toward wanting to learn. If you have been enthralled or enchanted by the mysteries of this world; Ancient cultures from Egypt or South America, Easter Island and Babylonia. If you've even wondered why they wrote about such mysteries that seem impenetrable even by today's standards then you may be ready to take that first step. It can feel as if you are the only person who seems to care about the larger ideas of life. The only one interested in understanding the nature of humanity and our human purpose. These are signs that you are on your path toward self discovery and the discovery of the human race.

You wouldn't be the first; many people have made grand efforts to dig into the rich soul of man. Through the study of history and the discovery of the ancient hidden teachings that lay dormant beneath the surface value of a modern education. First we have religion; a tool of discovery and awakening that has been twisted by time and abuse for so long that we wonder if any of it is authentic anymore. Judaism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Buddhism, among many others, these are all steeped in lessons of discovery; unfortunately because of their complicated past in takes a certain state of mind to pull useful information from them. I recommend, particularly if you are a person who tends to avoid organized religion that you start with something else that appeals to you and makes learning more fun.

Theology is a useful word that means 'to study the nature of god.' It is useful because it allows the theologian to disconnect from any sort of religious center and get an 'overall perspective' as it were. Theology has given birth to many forms
