The growing popularity of Multiplayer Online Games

Massively multiplayer online games, MMOGs, are becoming extremely popular for a number of reasons. Not only is society becoming more dependent on technology, but with that people are becoming more lazy. Also, within a video game, a person can create a completely new ego.

Instead of seeking outside entertainment, companies have provided people to be able to play video games from the comfort of home (especially games that have no end). The sole purpose is for these companies to make money, of course, but the consumers are enthralled as well. The ability to "game" with your friends, whether talking to them online, or setting up computers near theirs, the gaming world is a never-ending place for all people to have fun.

Also, within a gaming world, nobody has any inclination as to who is behind the character. For instance, you could be 6 foot 8 inches tall, and play a character in the video game that is half the height of other people. Similarly, many people act extremely tough online, because there are no repercussions. Whatever they choose, they do it anonymously (for the most part).

There are a few reasons as to why MMOGs are becoming extremely popular.
