As the spring and summer seasons set in, a majority of people lament over the aspect of insect proofing their homes. Almost everyone dislikes seeing bugs in their homes and most of us take strong steps to stop them from entering the houses. The bugs that finally gain entrance to the homes are usually done to death immediately rather than being forced to go out.
A thing which most of us do every year is making our house pulverized with a certain chemical that would restrain the insects from entering the house. Though it an effective method to keep the insects away, it is neither a healthy aspect nor an eco friendly one. Similar to how you could use the reusable bags for groceries instead of using plastic bags that would create problems to the environment; you would be able to use green methods to combat insects.
The first measure that can be taken is to maintain our house well. A large amount of bugs gain entry to our homes to access food and not to stay there. If you keep your cook tops, cabinets, cupboards etc free from food particles, you would be able to save your house from bugs. Always ensure that you store the opened packs of food items in airtight or reusable tins.
Nevertheless, no matter how neatly you maintain the house; there is a possibility of bugs gaining entry especially in certain locations of the country. You need not employ chemicals to destroy them or stop them from gaining entry.
There are various eco friendly ways to stop them. For instance, baby powder along with cinnamon can prevent ants from flocking to the compartments. Whenever you see ants gaining entry, just dust the area with cinnamon. They will flee. In case, you would like to destroy them, use the baby powder. The ants will carry them to their place and thereby face death.
The above discussed points will be applicable for indoor problems. For outside problems, what are we supposed to do? If you are desirous of keeping the insects that are persistently gaining entry to the garden, you would be able to keep them away by using an eco friendly manner. Firstly, try and employ predators on the gardens.
The predators like lady bugs, praying mantis, lizards, bats geckos and birds can be employed to fight these menaces. In case, you are not able to find them, approach the nearest store that handles garden accessories. They would perhaps, have natural predators that could be introduced in your garden to fight the insects. Never refrain from using reusable bags to do this shopping too.
You can also put up bird houses in your back yards to allow enough birds to fly around. You can also put up a bat in a cage and hang it in a tree. Though they do not have a good reputation, they are well known for killing mosquitoes. You would be able to witness the sharp decline in the number of mosquitoes in your neighborhood.
