Here are some words to a woman,
The man writing them knew not.
Just to see what would happen,
Whether he would get a response.
You see he was a sailor, of a ship named forever,
That traveled the seven seas.
So the letter he put in a bottle,
And addressed it "my love to be".
Then he threw the bottle overboard,
Into the great vast blue.
And dreamed of she who found it,
Not knowing for sure just who.
He sailed and sailed for years on end,
But never gave up his hope.
Until one day a great wind came from out of the north,
And his ship was swallowed right up.
But there was a maiden, who'd found the letter,
And read it with teary eyes,
That had fallen in love with a sailor,
Of whom she knew not had died.
Then one day came news of the terrible storm,
And the vessels it had took.
So she ran to the village to see the names,
Though in her heart she already knew.
And there on a paper, that hung from a post,
Her worst fear came up and met her.
Then she fell to her knees, as she read the word,
A ship named "forever".
She ran down the dock screaming the name,
And threw herself into the ocean.
On that day she died, in the greatest of tides,
Never giving it a second notion.
Now if you listen real close, On a dark stormy night,
As the waves crash into the shore,
You'll hear the voices of these two lovers,
Together forevermore.
