at least one of the core principles of Christianity, and possibly one of the most dated, has yet to conform. For if nothing else, at least the Church has withstood, and undoubtedly confronted with intense opposition, the pressure of society to eliminate, or at the very least suppress, the holy day of rest.
For if we were ever to tolerate such an unbiblical, rebellious act of defiance against Christianity, one that would seemingly resolve to abolish much of the strength and authority of the Church, it would surely indicate a step, or maybe even an unprecedented leap, away from true Christianity, inching closer and closer to a day an age when the Christian Church, potentially dragging all other religions as well, is no longer able to compete, or even put up a fight, against the devious ways of the world.
If the enemy is able to accomplish so great a feat, what would be left that we might deem him incapable? To this point, it seems as though Christianity is being abolished right in front of our eyes, almost as if we had a pie thrown in our face and have yet to clean it off.
If the government were to institute an abolishment of Christianity, chaos would surely follow. But maybe what we are missing is that religion is gradually being abolished over the centuries, so slowly and at such a deviously small rate, that we are forgetting what it once meant to be a Christian, to live like Christ.
To conclude, while most do not see Christianity as being abolished or ever wish it abolished, maybe that has some relation to the decreasing power and influence of the Church. I think most of us, or at least a large majority, would not wish an abolishment of Christianity in America, for we would lose our tax breaks for annual giving, devastated at the thought of donating so much and getting nothing in return, or be forced to search, and lose so much time doing so, for another worthy institution of which to donate our leftovers; but I assure you that abolishing Christianity in America is not anywhere near beneficial enough to put us at so great a loss.
